I found this interesting website which I think reveals the real attitudes of certain 'caring' organisations, who really don't think of disabled people at all. It is a good read and goes into quite a lot of detail. It seems scandalous that this situation is allowed to persist.

I am a researcher and clinician, practicing medicine for over 37 years. Through my research, I have linked the development of chronic pain to two inherited foot types, commonly seen in the population. We are able to eliminate chronic pain by treating these people using proprioceptive insoles.

I have to tell you about my friend Carla's experience at a place called The Bridge Recovery Center in Utah. She had back surgery because of car accident. The pain didn't go away and she was on serious medication, so much that she started on a pain patch. She went to The Bridge and got off her medication and learned to manage and lessen her pain....
