Wow, kudo's to you my friend!!! Homeschooling 4 - now 5 children you definitely have your hands full. I homeschool only 1 and she keeps me hoppin. But, she's the youngest, most spoiled little munchkin in this household.

My others all went to public school and faired well but this one, like with your niece, has some physical setbacks that gave me no other alternative. She got hurt IN SCHOOL a few years back and because of misdiagnosis was left with some chronic pain issues that the school didn't want to contend with. The school nurse was "too busy" to have to distribute advil to my daughter on occasion. Had the drs note and everything...even said I'd come in and administer it, all they have to do is call me when she's getting a migraine (she knows when they are coming on) but that too was too much for them to do.

So, rather then let her continue to fall behind in her education because of thier ignorance I opted to pull her out and homeschool her which has been quite challenging to say the least but a lot of fun at the same time.

Next year she wants to return to school with her friends and I told her we'd give it a try, see how things pan out. So, next year its back to school for her at least until they won't care for her as needed, then we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

I have found that its more difficult for a child to return to the public school system if they are ahead of their peers, but that's just been from my personal experience and not all schools are like the ones here.
